Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist - Behavioral Health (USA Timings) at Winnors Remote Staff

We are seeking a detail-oriented and articulate Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist to play a vital role in supporting our Behavioral Health admissions process. This role involves creating a narrative explaining why a client may require extended residential or PHP level of care treatment and communicating this information to a clinician employed by a commercial insurance company.

Responsibilities:

● Utilize various insurance portals and resources to accurately verify client insurance
benefits and eligibility for treatment.
● Analyze policy documents and determine coverage details for residential and PHP
(Partial Hospitalization Program) levels of care.
● Compose clear and concise narratives outlining the medical necessity for extended
treatment, leveraging clinical information provided.
● Communicate effectively with commercial insurance company clinicians to advocate
for client needs and secure treatment approvals.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records within the VOB system.
● Potentially run Utilization Reviews as required.
● Assist patients in understanding medical bills, explaining insurance coverage, and
providing information about payment options and financial assistance programs.
● Stay updated on medical billing regulations, insurance guidelines, and coding
practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
● Meeting all department productivity and quality standards.
 

Qualifications:

● Minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health, specifically in billing, Utilization
Reviews (URs), and Verification of Benefits (VOBs).
● Proficiency in medical billing software and coding systems.
● Knowledge of insurance billing processes and procedures.
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to write concise and compelling narratives that effectively justify treatment
needs.
 

Performance Metrics:

● We expect a high level of productivity, aiming for the completion of 20+ VOBs per
day.
● Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial to ensure smooth admissions processes.
